This short but powerful speech from Simone Reyes spoke straight to my very soul... and i know why. The simple reason is.. her words are my words, her actions my actions, her promise my promise.
Just an observation: in case you're eating ham, bacon etc, you have to
agree to the fact that it's your hand that is locking her up in this cage,
and that's how she lives her short life till she gets butchered...
don't answer to me, just answer to yourself - is her sufferance and her death worthy of what you put in your mouth? ......

mother pigs in the U.S. spend their entire adult lives confined to
cramped metal crates. They never feel the affectionate nuzzle of a mate,
and they are thwarted in their natural desire to build a cozy,
comfortable nest. Instead, they are surrounded by cold metal bars and
forced to lie on wet, feces-covered floors.
When they
are old enough to give birth, these sows are artificially inseminated
and imprisoned for the entire length of their pregnancies in “gestation
crates,” cages that are just 2 feet wide and too small for them even to
turn around or lie down comfortably. The pigs often develop bedsores
from lack of movement.
After
giving birth, mother pigs are moved to “farrowing crates,” enclosures
similar to gestation crates, with only a tiny additional concrete area
on which the piglets can nurse. One worker describes the process: “They
beat the shit out of the mother pigs to get them inside the crates because they don’t want to
go. This is their only chance to walk around, get a little exercise, and
they don’t want to go [back into a crate].”
This intensive confinement, loneliness, and deprivation often causes
mother pigs to go insane, which is manifested in repetitive behaviors
such as neurotically chewing on their cage bars or obsessively pressing
on their water bottles. After three or four years, their bodies are
exhausted (despite the fact that the pigs are still quite young), and

Many are the excuses why not to follow a vegan diet and life style, we heard them all, from laziness to... well, mostly they all can get back to that one, the big 'laziness' excuse.
And i do believe it's all about that, leaving our own comfort zone and - oh dear... - suffering the pain of hell just cause we won't be able to taste that 'bacon' again, or join our friends in summer barbecues etc etc... But again, it all boils down to what are our own priorities - 'us' (our own little selfish egotistic bubble with our own pleasures and preferences) or 'us' (and this is where our own bubble become so big that there's space not only for our little petty egos, but for all, as in 'all-is-connected', as in 'your sufferance, my sufferance').
I won't even go in details in this post on how many tasty and jummy and delicious and mouth-watering meat replacements there are out there nowadays, even affordable for somebody like me, that needs to be a math genius every time i go for groceries, trying to balance the pennies in all i'm buying (and no - that's no fun.. but that's how it is now..). And then, of course, still at the supermarket you see a bag of 100 grams of salami, costing, lets say a euro... and next to it the 'veg-salami' that for less grams costs even more... but no matter how broke i am, i live by my choices and that's all i have, my face in the mirror in the morning smiles, instead of puking at me... so i'm fine with that.
But ok, then there's the protein intake excuse that goes along the lines of 'oh, you will never get enough proteins eating a plant-based diet...' and even to this i won't go in details now, cause actually this post was all about how fit and great you can still be following a plant-based diet, that not only will benefit you with healthy results, but will benefit as well the uncountable animals that daily suffer and die cause of our... excuses.
And no, i might not be a super muscle girl at the moment (the gym is the best place where i can focus for that..) but i definitely don't look like as if i'm starving, on the contrary, i got these few kilos extras for the winter months to keep me warm and well-padded in case i fall off my bike ;)
So, have a look at those athletes that are fully vegan and rock their sporty world, maybe ask them where do they get their proteins... ;)

i don't know what
it takes to each one of us to make a change in our life, to me,
personally, to see only this few minutes of a clip is enough.
I
personally feel immense pain in my heart when i think or see the abuse
animals go through for human pleasure. I can't be part of that. It's
small my part in this, but as much small as it is it must be there. I
can't think that my choices and my actions are part of the hand that torture
those animals, part of the kick in the face those poor animals got from
these savages, monsters. I can't be part of the hand that holds the
scissors that heartlessly cut a tail, like if somebody would just come
and cut my arm, no anesthetic, no pity, only pain. (see video in petition HERE) Walking towards
death's doors and getting tortured while walking to my death. If there's
something, someone, that is what the Christians talk about as Jesus,
all those animals are. The same way he was walking to his death, the
same way those innocents are walking. He got beaten, laughed at,
tortured, spit at, no pity for him, till they put him on that
cross...slowly left there to die. To me, all the animals that are
tortured and killed by man, to me all of them are what Christians call
the Christ. I don't follow any particular religion. I believe in good
actions vs bad actions. That's how i go on in life. So i don't know why
this particular example came to my mind, maybe my cultural background...
No matter this, my point is just a call to you all to open your hearts
and feel empathy and compassion for those poor innocent creatures. It's
not the easiest way in the beginning, a vegan diet... but the 'Right
Thing' has got nothing to do with easy or difficult. I just pray that
everyday more and more people find it in their heart to feel and see
those animals as equals, cause when you see them as you, and me, and
your kids, and your spouse, when you see them like that you wouldn't
want anything bad to happen to them.
Please remember that just some
years ago people with a different skin colour were used as slaves and
treated as those cattle are treated, remember that just few years ago
women were burned alive and called witches, only few years ago women
couldn't even vote, just few years ago thinking 'gay' was considered an
abomination. So keeping this in mind, think that one day, the way we
treat our brothers and sisters animals will be seen as something so
cruel and primitive as well. The change is in our hearts. Those words
might not change you today. But i have to speak them, in the hope that
at least they will make a little seed fall in your heart, and one day
that seed might be ready and grow into a source of Compassion for All. God Bless The Animals and keep them away from pain....

I'm personally amazed of the way he clearly and quickly makes the connection between what's on his plate and how it did get there, and if eventually it did get there with pain and suffering.
The empathy this little boy is already showing at such a young age is
something mind blowing, not only that - it's something most adults are lacking.
I don't know exactly when the concept of 'selfishness' develops in humans, but most grown ups - even when staring the truth in the eyes - can come out with many many excuses when their 'comfort zone' is threaten. And with this i mean our habits.
There are many habits, some are more harmful than others. Maybe not to us but to other creatures, and that's when the concept of selfishness gets in the way. Most non-vegetarian people have big difficulty in stopping to eat meat and/or fish cause they cannot think of living without the taste of a steak, bacon, turkey etc etc. I used to eat meat (on and off) too, as at that time i still didn't realize the cruelty that lies behind that appealing plate of ... 'whatever was alive before and not anymore'.
But the day came when i found myself watching for the first time a clip on YouTube, where miss Pamela Anderson was explaining what goes behind the scenes at KFC.
At the end of that few minutes clip it was clear to me that i didn't
wanna be part of that cruelty cycle no more, and that same day i stopped
eating meat for good. That same day i also decided that i had to do
something about what i saw, i couldn't just be there, crying my eyes out
and do nothing, cause that wouldn't have helped any animals anyway. And
that's when my 'Animal Voice' project started.
I wish more people were like sweet Luiz - learning something new,
understanding it and acting upon what they just discovered. Breaking old
habits that we keep on feeding just out of plain selfishness, cause all
meat/fish we'll ever eat started with the killing (you can even call it
murdering) of some innocent creature that had a desire to live as much
as we all do.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed already that a vegetarian diet is a very healthy choice for humans, especially when thinking the way animals are pumped up with chemicals to fatten them up, and fish is getting no more a good alternative either, considering seas and oceans pollution, radioactivity etc.
Nowadays the alternatives to meat are so many, and so good, in fact there are even experiments being made, where meat alternatives have been served to people expecting to eat meat and not knowing that actually they weren't, and the results are very positive and surprising.
A vegetarian and or/vegan diet is just so good in many ways, for your
health, for a cruelty-free lifestyle and for your taste buds...
Ukraine - April 26th, 1986 - Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant explodes.
High levels of radioactivity and lots of human and animal casualties followed. The area was evacuated and still today humans are not yet suitable for re-homing it. But now, almost 30 years later, that same place that witnessed much death and destruction seems has had a surprising change of course. Many species are living there, and multiplying... cause eventually, where there's no man... there's more chances of survival for animals and all nature alike.
This is quite much of a controversial subject for me, i don't really agree with the way scientists interact and interfere with the local wildlife - i am strongly against any kind of animal testing experiment, and the poor white rats in the documentary will end up in a lab. Also i didn't really enjoy the part where they had to set a trap to catch 'Boy', the wolf - in a nonchalant kind of way they explained that 'the paw caught in the trap didn't seem to have reported any damage' ... what if it did though!
This being said, it's quite interesting to see that after man destroys, nature reclaims. If we continue the way we do, at this rate - between pollution, deforestation, pouching etc - not much will be left to guarantee an healthy standard of life for all earthlings, at least the ones that remain. But it kind of brings some hope to think that eventually, if we'll annihilate ourselves with our greediness and stupidity, nature might have another chance to thrive.

The people at SPCA Wake County did a great job with this commercial, i hope they can reach as much people as possible with this message, and i hope in general that the concept of adopting from shelters become more and more accepted and integrated into people's lives.
Remember, there are tons of animals waiting for a loving home, animals that are waiting for you in shelters all over the world, and those cats and dogs are just eager to shower you with their unconditional love. These great animals are sitting behind bars for the most different reasons, mostly selfish and lazy excuses.
When people decide to get an animal at home, they should keep very well in mind that it's
the same decision as when they decide to have a kid - it's a LIFE LONG
COMMITMENT. The same as you wouldn't give away your kid for any reason,
the same you shouldn't give away your pets. Do you give
away your kids when you move into a new house? or when you have a new
baby? or when your boyfriend doesn't really like kids? most humans don't
give away their human kids, the same should be for our furry kids. They
should always been taken good care of. Animals/pets are not toys. They
are living creatures and deserve the respect and care we give to our
kin. Especially when they give us SO MUCH. No human left behind, no
animals left behind.
Now run! Run to your local shelter and do the best thing you could do for yourself - get the best loving and faithful companion you might ever get! :)

well well well.... it has certainly passed a long time since my last post here, but there's been a reason which i'm sure most of my readers already know - that reason being Animal Voice presence on Facebook....
To summarize it a bit, Animal Voice project started back at the very beginning of 2007, right here where you are now. At that time i still didn't have a profile neither a page on Facebook, back then MySpace was the place to be and that's also where my project had a high level presence and very busy interactions with other fellow animal lovers. For some reasons i opened an account on Facebook at the end of 2008, and soon after Animal Voice page was created. No need to say (now in 2014) that FB definitely was/is helping out a great deal with the famous 'sharing' option. And all of us involved in animal rescue operations well know how fast and wide we can pass information and pleas of help just by clicking that 'share' button. This was the beginning of me spending more time networking for animals on Facebook, and less here.... in any case, to cut a long story a bit shorter... I'm Back! :)
Many many things happened in these almost three years of not posting on these pages, i'm sure in a way or the other i will update you with some of the events that kept me busy meanwhile - and at the same time i'm sure that the ones that kept on following my work on my Facebook page are aware of me being quite busy out there too. Since i created the page on the famous social network, as of today there are more than 8.300 'fans' connected to it, and that's a number i definitely am happy with but that at the same time i surely wanna see increase - much much much - as one of my motto is 'the more for the animals, the better!' I'm sure i won't be able to pass to you in this one post all of the things i got in mind since last time i saw you guys on these pages, but there are many ideas and projects boiling up, lots of stuff i want to do and want to do better as well.... just to name one of the main changes i got in mind, we can talk about the new approach regarding all animal issues we're going to handle:
i'll be trying to look more on the brighter side... with that meaning i will incorporate in my site more 'good feeling' and positive stories as well in order not only to educate but also to inspire more people to act upon what they learn here. I know i tend to be on the 'hard and graphic' side of stuff, but i did and do so cause that has worked for me - for my Big Change.... and since i'm a stubborn person (lets blame it on me being an Aries.... or an hot blooded italian...) i thought the way to go was mostly that one. But ok, even for hot blooded italians time passes and eventually i might have learned a thing or two while being daily busy since the last 7 years with my project Animal Voice and all that is animal rights/rescue/welfare/etc etc....
So - this been said.... welcome back to all of my readers and fellow animal lovers... i actually never left... ;)

i'll tell you more about him in the next days, just know i scooped him up from the streets while visiting my family in Italy last year (what a story.. you'll hear all about it!), he was very sick and emaciated.. almost a year ago... now he's my super fantastic AND gorgeous kitty-kat named SAFI :)))
"Bozhidar (God's gift) was about a year old stray, enduring life on the mean streets of a small village in Bulgaria. Sadists used him as a live target and shot him numerous times. They covered all of his body with gunshot wounds but that wasn't enough for the bastards' sick fun, so they cut his tong and left him on the road to die slowly!
The driver of a passing truck saw the agonizing dog and called local animal rights activists. They reacted immediately but there was nothing much to be done for the poor thing. By the time help arrived he's lost too much blood and his suffering was beyond belief. The dog has been euthanized." (from Bozhidar's petition ) I want people to be aware of what's going on behind each own bubble. If you think it's not your business, you're wrong. Cause the moment you are aware of something, you gotta choose for the Best Option, which in this case means getting the boundaries of our own bubble so large to make of all that surrounds us, in any form and shape - our business. Because that's what it is. Don't lie to yourself, you're the one that harvest at the end of the day......
This, like so many other stories, shouldn't happen. At all.
The fact that there are extremely sick and evil people out there should make everybody aware that this is reality. Don't look the other way when you see this, or when you read Bozhidar' story, because if you do so, that won't make the monsters go away. The monsters need to got out and in plein sight - for everybody to know who they are. We need, all of us animal lovers, to make it a mission not to let stories like this be forgotten, but try in all way to us available to get these sick bastards to justice. People like this have some serious , serious problems in their brain, cause anybody right in its head would simply consider this kind of cruelty insane. These are the same monsters that will enjoy raping a kid, beating a woman and so on. It's proved: who engages in acts of violence towards animals, will most perpetrate more future violence on humans, generally to the defenceless ones, cause these people are sick ball-less unsecure macho pieces of doodoo.. and that's all they can do with their time.
People from Bulgaria, get together and try to bring to justice the monster that did this.
Lately from the east of Europe we are witnessing too many cases of extreme evil cruel violence towards animals, this cannot go on like this. These people are throwing blood buckets on your flags. (not that i personally care about flags in general...)

.. and back we are in India with this new entry, but fortunately this time with a different story - one that talks about Compassion in Action. It's the tale of a group of people that decided it's time to roll up the sleeves and do something for all the animals that seriously need help in the neighborhoods of Udaipur.
"Animal Aid Unlimited is a US-based 501(c)3 charitable organization that runs a busy animal hospital and shelter in Udaipur, Rajasthan India, where ownerless street animals are rescued, healed, loved, and returned to the neighborhoods from where they came.
Animal Aid’s mission is to both bring relief to suffering animals, and to awaken compassion among people. Showing everyone a path for action is where we begin."
When you visit their website you will get to know some of the people that are working together to bring a better chance of life to all these beautiful and sweet animals, from professional vets to all the P.W.V.B.H. (People With Very Big Heart..) that volunteer at the hospital and shelter.
These are beautiful stories of animals that from a life of pain, sufferance, food deprivation and fear, got to know a better way through the deep love and compassion of a few committed men and women. Not only to these less fortunate residents the help needed is given, but also to all the local cases brought to their attention - size or number of legs doesn't matter as they all deserve a chance at Animal Aid Unlimited. Through various programs they bring first hand help, awareness and solutions on what can be done for preventing animal suffering, locally and globally.
The following is just a little selection of the 'happy ending' stories at Animal Aid Unlimited.....
“Scout came to Animal in January 2008. He had been attacked by a dog and had many deep wounds. Scout was extremely frightened and in a lot of pain, but after spending time with the staff and volunteers, Scout learned he no longer needed to fear, and he began to trust, receive love, and give love in return. He recovered from his wounds and was released back into the neighborhood where he came from. We don’t know why, because it is fairly rare that bigger dogs attack young ones, but he was attacked again, and this time his injuries are so severe that he is now unable to use his back legs, and will live the rest of his life with people who love him in the company of safe dogs in the middle of a world where he feels loved."
"Raju came with massive electrical burns on his face, and that’s why he looks so strange. His little nose was burned right off. He’s blind. He lives in a caged home that two donors (Pia and Klaus Jacobsen) built for him in 2004. He’s a macaque (red-faced) monkey from North India, and we know he was illegally poached and assume he was forced to perform for money on a chain. But the owner couldn’t use him after his injuries and abandoned him in Udaipur; we received an emergency call from someone who found him laying listless with infected burns all over his face and hands. We don’t know any more than that. Raju needed eye-drops many times during the day, and absolutely hated them. But he recovered all his strength and began playing as soon as we provided him the space to do so. He is not a tame monkey; he doesn’t want to be handled. What he DOES enjoy is harassing dogs that are tied near to him, and he loves his friend Selki (a male monkey. “Selki” means girlfriend. Readers can interpret this as liberally as they may. More on Selki in another story.) Please, if you’ve always wanted a monkey, now’s your chance. Raju needs more friends and you can send him your blessings every day, mysteriously hidden in fruit and vegetables that your donation helps us provide."
“Thomas was a baby donkey who had been tethered leg to leg with plastic packing tape which severed the tendons in his hind leg and permanently disabled him. He has lived in Animal Aid since 2004. Since baby donkeys are extremely fuzzy and affectionate, Thomas never wanted for affection and play from humans, and if ever an animal thought he were a person, it would be Thomas, who sits together with you at mealtimes, relaxes over a newspaper with you during a tea break, follows you through your daily duties of feeding the dogs or other animals, and generally fulfills the highest notion of what it means to be a “companion animal.” That term is usually used in reference to dogs and cats, but anyone who has ever spent time with other species knows that even wild animals are our companions when we live in harmony with them. In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy who had gone out in search of his mother in a field, has been attacked and bitten to death by a pack of street dogs at Kazipur, Meerut. As a result the villagers are eliminating each stray by brutally killing them.
They are ostensibly 'remedying' the situation that led to death of two children in village Kazipur, Meerut, allegedly due to stray dog attacks. In fact, there is an illegal abattoir in village Kazipur, which is violating every possible norm - pollution control, animal waste disposal, etc. Apparently, 5000 animals, mainly cattle, INCLUDING COWS are slaughtered in the abattoir every day - and then, the animal parts that are not used, and blood, bones, etc., are all allowed to flow into an open nullah adjacent to the abattoir, that flows through village Kazipur and beyond. The strays of the area feed on these animal remains as a consequence ; or attacked children who ventured too close to the nullah that is their food source."

These monkeys are suffering hell on earth. Have u ever tried to imagine how could it feel to have your brain opened up, with people making experiments on yourself - while you are still in your own body and totally conscious of what's going on ?!?! Conscious of all the pain and suffering that they are inflicting upon you... Nowhere to escape, nowhere to get some compassion and care from...
Did You Ever Give A Thought To That ?!?! it cannot just leave you untouched.........
The Mazor breeding farm currently holds 1,000 long tailed macaque monkeys. Some of these monkeys were wild caught on the island of Mauritius, while others were born in captivity. Mazor is a link in the chain of cruel trade in which monkeys are forcibly removed from their natural environment then flown thousands of miles in small cages to laboratories or breeding facilities. These animals will have been separated from their family groups, the young brutally separated from their mothers.
Mazor is little more than a monkey breeding factory, whose manager considers the monkeys to be "production units" whose sole purpose is to increase profits, through the sale of the offspring to laboratories. To further increase profitability, the young are separated early from their mothers, allowing these females to mate as soon as possible. Early forced separation is traumatic to both the young and the mothers. These mothers will cry out and cling in desperation to the bars of their cages in a vain attempt to look for their young. The young who have been moved to a separate enclosure, will in turn look for their mothers and display signs of severe distress. Not all of these animals will survive this difficult transition and some will die.
Those who survive will have their chests tattooed with a four digit serial number and then be sold to laboratories in Europe, the US and Israel. Every year, hundreds of these terrified young monkeys will be forced to travel huge distances in tiny crates to faraway destinations, to a fate worse than death, which awaits them. Each of these "units" will fill the pockets of the breeding farm manager to the tune of $2800.
A fate worse than death
The vast majority of these young monkeys will be sold to laboratories that specialize in toxicology (poisoning tests). Among the clients of Mazor are Covance (Germany) , the Swedish centre for Biological studies, as well as laboratories in the UK, Belgium, Italy and the US. The monkeys will be housed in miserable conditions and will undergo toxicity tests in which they will be injected or force fed with drugs and other chemicals. Most of the animals will die during these tests, and those who survive will be killed at the end of the experiment.
Most of the monkeys sold to laboratories within Israel will undergo invasive brain experiments. These experiments involve water deprivation, immobilization in a primate chair for extended periods of time, surgical removal of the top of the skull, and implantation of equipment in the skull and the brain itself. These types of experiment typically last several years, after which most of the monkeys will be killed. In rare instances, individual monkeys are released and allowed to undergo rehabilitation in sanctuaries. This is a relatively recent phenomenon and is due in large part to public outcry.
CALL for ACTION!
Last July, Behind Closed Doors together with other animal rights' groups, called on the Minister of Environmental Protection to withdraw the Mazor trade licence (import and export). The Minister is currently studying our written proposal and is expected shortly to announce his decision.
We would like to ask you to please write a polite message to the Minister, making clear your views that the Mazor monkey breeding farm must be closed down:

'Mazor Farm' (Israel) is located at 'Moshav Mazor' and been managed by Dr. Moshe Boshmitz and by CEO of 'Smile Media'- Eli Holtzman is raising over 1000 monkeys in order to sell them to laboratories where experiments in Israel and abroad are expected to have a life of suffering, torture, loneliness and pain.
You might have stumbled upon some of these clips already... They tell the stories of animals that follow their natural protective instincts, and end up helping their fellow pals.. animal and human alike. Courageous acts that put the very own life of these creatures at stake, but nevertheless, their own fears were erased and wholeheartedly they run to the rescue of others. Once again we should look at our fellow companion animals --- and all animals in general, and observe how differences can be put aside without a regret or a doubt, just because - most of all - we are all - in this - together. Surviving and peacefully co-existing it's a natural way of things when 'profits and selfishness' are not in the way... that is.
This entry is a little homage to all of the Animals that have shown what real love and selflessness can accomplish, no matter what. There is to add, that in the same courageous fashion that animals have helped others, also some humans have ripped and gone through the blinding veil of ignorance and separation, and rescued their helpless brothers and sisters cats, dogs, monkeys, rabbits, ferrets, mice, seals, foxes etc. We'll talk about these 'human heroes' next time, now lets look at them animals - the Non Discriminatory Heroes.

Boycott Oxford!!!
‘Felix’ was a macaque monkey who was tortured for one entire year by vivisector Tipu Aziz. While excellent alternative research methods exist, Felix was but one of countless numbers of sentient beings that continue to suffer and die inside Oxford laboratories every year for no reason other than greed.
Felix was subjected to the standard method employed to coerce a monkey into compliance: starvation. He had the top of his skull sliced off, an extremely painful procedure. Electrodes were forced into his brain and then he was fitted with a cranial chamber. He suffered alone in his barren cage until the day his torturers had finished with him; the day they put him to death.
But Felix unfortunately hasn't been the only victim at Oxford testing facilities. Lets remember George - kidnapped, abusued, tortured and blinded, JEZ and Bjee - just a few examples amongst many of the abuse taking place behind the closed doors of the university's labs. It now appears that Oxford University, with the backing of the Labour Government have become a law unto themselves and the university now believe they are untouchable.
Do you really call this science? It looks more like a horror house to me.....

Jill Phipps was a British animal rights activist. She lived in Coventry, England. On 1 February 1995, Jill was crushed to death under the wheels of a lorry carrying live baby veal calves into Coventry Airport in Baginton, England, to be flown to Amsterdam for distribution across Europe. 10 of the 33 protesters present had broken through police lines and were trying to bring the lorry to a halt by sitting in the road or chaining themselves to it. Jill was crushed beneath the lorry's wheels and her fatal injuries included a broken spine. Phipps' brother Zab commented: "Jill was crushed and died on the way to hospital. Our mother, Nancy, was with her. The lorry driver has not been charged, not even with driving without due care and attention."
The Crown Prosecution Service decided there was not enough evidence to bring charges against the driver, Stephen Yates. Jill's family believe that the police were to blame for her death, because the police appeared determined to keep the convoy of lorries moving despite the protest.
Veal calf exports from Coventry Airport ended months later, when the aviation firm belonging to the pilot responsible for the veal flights, Christopher Barrett-Jolley, went bankrupt following accusations of running guns from Slovakia to Sudan in breach of EU rules. In 2006 he was charged with smuggling 271 kg of cocaine from Jamaica into Southend airport. The continuing level of protest was such that several local councils and a harbour board banned live exports from their localities. All live exports of calves later stopped due to fears of BSE infection. In 2006 this ban was lifted, but Coventry Airport pledged that it would refuse requests to fly veal calves. "Jill's peaceful protests took many forms, from providing a home to a stray dog, to handing out leaflets, to sabbing a hunt, to standing in front of a lorry load of young calves destined for a short hellish life in veal crates. When Jill stood in front of the lorry that killed her, she understood the risks but typically for her she assumed that the police and the lorry driver would respect life as much as she did, unfortunately this was not true and in the end Jill gave her life for her beliefs and for others who could not defend themselves - this is the greatest act of bravery that is possible by a human being. Jill is not a martyr, she is a hero and her actions will inspire and give courage to everyone who knew her and to many thousands of people who never met her. Jill`s bravery and compassion will go down in history and she will never be forgotten."
